Reasons to love Autumn

Yes, it’s hard to say goodbye to summer but at least what follows is another beautiful season. There are many reasons to love Autumn, so don’t get too down over worsening weather and darker evenings – all is not lost! Here are some compelling reasons to celebrate the coming of Autumn:

  1. The colours of the trees as they change from bright green to the warm shades of oranges, reds and yellows is a stunning sight to behold. The variety and mixture of leaf colours creates beautiful avenues of jaw-dropping scenery at this time of year.
  2. These amazing scenes of autumnal foliage provide the perfect backdrop for some wonderful photo opportunities.
  3. What can be more fun than going leaf-kicking? Kids love it and so do big kids! Autumn provides the ideal chance to get out in the fresh air and frolic about.
  4. Autumn leaves also make a very satisfying crunchy sound when you walk on them.

  2. A crisp autumn sunrise is a magical sight to behold. They offer a different light to a summer sunrise, more golden and glowing. You can also benefit from catching this daily event a little later than seeing one during the summer! So, more time for snoozing in autumn.
  3. It’s not yet uncomfortably or bitterly cold like it is on winter mornings but just nicely, refreshingly sunny and crisp.
  4. The season of autumn also brings it with a whole range of new vegetables and fruit to enjoy and we begin to experience the joy of warm, comfort food in the evenings again.
  5. Once again, it’s that time of year when we can enjoy warming meals such as pies, soups, casseroles and stews. Why not wash it down with a lovely hot coffee, tea or hot chocolate?

  • It is also time to reorganise our wardrobes and fetch out the favourite fluffy sweaters, knitted garments and soft scarves. It’s also the perfect time for new season shopping trips.
  • Dust off the hot water bottles and enjoy snuggling up for some quality duvet time. This also includes revisiting your onesies.
  • Autumn is the best time for those sweet extra hours in bed too, with the clocks going back at the end of October. Who doesn’t love an extra hour of weekend?
  • All the great TV starts in the autumn too. As the darker evenings draw in, we can all gather once more around the television set and enjoy the nation’s favourite shows like Strictly Come Dancing and The Apprentice.
  • It’s conker time! This is the perfect chance to go leaf kicking and exploring, play a good old-fashioned family game and prevent spiders from entering your home.
  • Halloween is all about pumpkin carving, trick or treating and eating lots of sweets.
  • The kids go back to school but if you love it when they’re off, you don’t have to wait too long for October half-term that normally coincides with Halloween.
  • Next comes Bonfire night and all the fun of the fireworks, sparklers and toasting marshmallows.
  • As the season progresses, the excitement and anticipation of Christmas begins to mount, and Christmas markets begin to appear.
